Every Tuesday at 3:30pm PDT we will co-host a tweet chat with our wine club partner Touring & Tasting. Since this is likely a new concept for many people out there, we thought we'd offer a quick explanation.
What is a tweet chat? A tweet chat is a live Twitter event, usually moderated and focused around a general topic. To filter all the chatter on Twitter into a single conversation a hashtag is used. A set time is also established so that the moderator, guest or host is available to engage in the conversation.
In this case, the hosts are Touring & Tasting (@touringtasting) and Hitched editor, Steve Cooper (@hitchedmedia), and we will be using the hashtag #TastingTu.
How do you participate? To participate, all you need to do is tweet during the designated time using the conversation hashtag. It’s also possible to just follow the conversation by searching the hashtag without engaging—but what fun is that?
We have set up two pages to make things even more convenient. We have created a special tweet chat widget on the right-hand side of our wine club page where you can follow and participate (this is open to everyone) and a special page has also been created at Twubs.com/TastingTu.
Each week we will focus on a specific topic; we're launching our regular tweet chat talking about red wine blends (see the image above for the launch schedule). Tweet chats are great because they let you be a part of a community with people who share a similar interest. Also, because they take place through Twitter you can participate from anywhere. Imagine sitting at the doctor's office waiting for your appointment, you can hop on your smartphone and be a part of this happy hour, ask the questions you want, meet new people and learn a little something new--it's like being in two places at once.
If you have any further questions please leave them in the comments section. We hope to see you in our next #TastingTu tweet chat!
