More Red Lights Run on Memorial Weekend Than Any Other Holiday Weekend

Be safe this weekend! A new report by the National Coalition for Safer Roads found that more than 2.3 million drivers in 18 states ran a red light last year, and the number of scofflaws was more than 27% higher on Memorial Day weekend than on an average non-holiday weekend. The reason, according to this USA Today article, is drivers may be eager to get to their holiday destination. The study gathered data from 142 areas in 18 states, which they calculated to account for 1.2 red-light violations occurring every second.

So, while you're traveling this weekend, please pay attention to the road and look at the traffic from all directions when crossing an intersection. If you'd like to see how Memorial weekend stacks up in safety versus other holiday weekends, visit the USA Today article.

Have a fund and safe Memorial weekend everyone!
