Can Pompey Break Their Duck Against The Toffees?

Portsmouth have had a woeful start to the season with six losses from six starts. To be fair, last couple of games have seen them put in reasonable performances in most areas except the one that counts – the back of the net. They take on Everton in today’s early game and with the Toffees having a less than stellar start – we could be in for an interesting best casino reviews and afternoon of football.

Everton are poor value at even money with online bookmakers whilst Portsmouth at 7/2 are probably under-rated. The draw at 5/2 looks to be good value. Everton have a knack for scoring late goals to at least grab a point from a match. I’ll back the draw for a point each today.

Other games worth looking at a little closer include the Birmingham – Bolton game and the Blackburn – Aston Villa game.

Birmingham at home should give them the edge over Bolton. Birmingham are 13/10 to win with Bolton 5/2. Although Bolton don’t have a great record so far they seem to be improving with every game. I expect them to give this game a big shake and perhaps walk away with the three points.

Blackburn were lucky to avoid relegation last season and have returned threatening to return to the relegation pits. Aston Villa have come out ready to fire yet again could be an outside chance to threaten the top four. They will need to win well here to do so. Despite their current form, Villa are at generous odds of 16/11 with Blackburn at 21/10. With those odds Villa should be a good bet.

If you are really looking for a shock result at good odds – Stoke at home to Manchester United could be the answer. Stoke are at 9/1 and are hard to beat at home. I don’t know if they can beat United but I am sure they will be happy to finish the day with a point. The draw is 7/2 and well worth a fiver or two I think.

Down Under Expats Celebrate Grand Final Week

There is one thing I can say about Australian expats – they still love their southern football, particularly the Australian Rules games (AFL). This game of aerial ping-pong looks strange to watch, but they go mad over it. This weekend they will all gather in our local clubs and pubs to watch the grand final between Geelong and St. Kilda. Thankfully we won’t hear anything more for another six months.

While the Aussie Rules game has its grand final, the world’s premier rugby league competition has its semi finals this weekend with the grand final the following weekend – and yes, it’s all in Australia again.

The Broncos, Bulldogs, Eels and Storm come together this weekend with the two semi finalists meeting on Sunday week (early Sunday morning our time).

For once the Broncos are the roughies of the field with online bookmakers quoting them at 4/1. The Bulldogs are 3/1, Paramatta Eels 5/2 and the Melbourne Storm favourites at 7/4.

Melbourne Storm take on the Broncos in one semi whilst the Eels tackle the Bulldogs in the other semi. If the Broncos can get past the Storm they will win this competition – in fact, if they win this weekend you watch their odds drop from the 4’s into odds on.

It will be a top game with the Storm perhaps having a slight edge over the Broncos. The Eels should account for the Bulldogs with ease setting up an Eels – Storm final. My money is on the Eels should they play the Storm, otherwise the Broncos.

In the AFL, Geelong are into their third staight grand final. They won the first, had a surprise loss last year and I am predicting will lose again this year. The Saints (St. Kilda) have had a good year and look strong at the right time of the year. Geelong are a short 4/7 to win with the Saints at 5/4. I expect come post time online bookmakers will their odds much closer together.
