Have your husband speak to him. I had the same problem w/my sons. Let your son know that he's a "big boy" now and big boys sleep in their own rooms alone. In the morning even though he may not have stayed in his room alone for too long, praise him for the time he did. By doing that, he will feel proud and will try harder to sleep by himself. Give him little things to do like making his bed (we know it won't be perfect) and make it fun. When he's done no matter how it looks praise him by saying, "Wow, you did a great job my big boy!". Make a sign that says "big boys room" and post it on his door.
Also, keep his closet light on w/the door halfway ajarred. This worked for my sons. Good luck!
